Yep, Game 2… I was gonna link to my company blog for this, but it’s a little on hold… So here’s the Press Release for Game 2…
STUNTMEN STEAL SCENE FROM LEVEL
Last Second 3 Not Enough For An Oscar As LEVEL drops to 0-2
(For Immediate Release)
Arroyo Grande, CA – Tonight was no recycled Hollywood story as LEVEL looked like a different team when compared to last week’s dismal season opener. Right from the start of the show, “The Playground” Daniel Parks took it right to the Stuntmen to give LEVEL it’s first lead of the season. “I want to be aggressive – I do my OWN stunts!” Daniel said before the game. And, like Jackie Chan in Rush Hour, Daniel’s stunts were almost enough to carry the day as a buzzer-beating 3 pointer went in to give LEVEL 39 for the night. But “The Playground” wasn’t the only one out trying for a staring role; returning big-man Mark “The Mouth” Grondin gave a courageous performance down low. Despite early foul trouble and a ref that was trying too hard to direct the action, Mark put up big numbers in both points and rebounds.
“The guy was a monster under the rim – give him some makeup and a consistent ref and Mark could have won an Oscar tonight!” said Hank “Smiles” Wethington after the game. “The difference tonight was in the script. Everyone started off hitting their marks and it really showed.” LEVEL definitely looked to be reading from the same script as a set offense quickly had the Stuntmen switching from zone-defense to man-to-man after taking an early 12-8 lead. Tom “The Prez” Adamski’s 3-2 motion offense was the key to LEVELs performance. “It just makes sense. You don’t need a lot of basketball knowledge to see that all it takes is a good script. Heck, even guys like Tom Cruise can win an Oscar with a good script,” Tom said during the after party.
Other red carpet notables were Steven “Big Jump” Hasegawa, whose hustle and defense will have him looking for bigger roles in the future. Phil “Hornet” Siems also will be looking for a bigger role. Coming off the bench, he gave energy and grittiness in his defensive role. “I’m not gonna lie, being an understudy was hard, but it was for the team. We win or lose together,” Phil said, talking to reporters court side. “Mini” Van Indra was back with the team but struggled to get in the game with so many talented players available. “New jerseys, new name, new offense! We struggled to get 5 to a game last year. It was a surprise to see a full cast available tonight,” Van added. Rob Patti and Ale Lacerda struggled for time along with “Mini” Van. “We made each minute we were in count, even if there were only a couple minutes to go around,” said Rob.
Coming in for a uncredited role was Brian “Close the Deal” Clausen. After lengthy contract negotiations failed last year, Brian was able to put the money aside and put in some big fouls and a presence down low tonight. Many of the LEVEL family have never heard of Brian Clausen, but seeing him on the court tonight shows why he is missed by the few that still utter his name.
All said, the surprise performance of the night goes to Mig “What Foul?” Castro who not only showed why he should be considered for defensive player of the year, but turned in 3 “and 1“ performances during the game. “I just did what needed to be done. Hank wasn’t sure how I would handle the spot light, I think this performance showed I’m ready,” Mig stated as he headed for his limo.
LEVELs overall performance, while coming up short, showed they belong on the big screen. However, only time will tell if this story will continue to get better, or if LEVEL may be destined for direct to video. Next week, LEVEL takes on the Budget Ballers at 7:30p.
