LEVEL RUNS DOWN SOLANO
Crowd Erupts as LEVEL Gets Seasons First Win
(For Immediate Release)
Arroyo Grande, CA – With a sell out crowd in attendance, LEVEL was looking to to put an end to their 3 game losing streak. While LEVEL may not be playing for a championship, they were certainly playing for some respect. Similar to previous weeks, LEVEL put up some quick points, but the difference this night showed up wearing #14, Phil “And 1” Siems. Phil put up 3 points in the opening minutes, the hard way, and before the half was out, would go to the line 2 more times. “Put the little guy on the shelf!” Phil was heard shouting during a team timeout. When asked after the game, no one was sure what that meant, but with Phil’s aggressive play, no one was willing to question him about it either. Retired All-Star, Ryan Allshouse, watching from the third row, was asked about Phil’s performance after the game, “The other team had no answer for the energy that is Phil. He was off the hook. I think this should kill any idea about Phil coming off the bench. Period.”
When asked about the change in line up, Hank “Smiles” Wethington said “We needed to shake things up. We needed energy. We wanted to be aggressive offensively, but we needed to focus on Defense.” And LEVEL’s defense gave Hank something to smile about. Holding Solano to just 23 points on the night, LEVEL was tenacious on the D-side of the ball. Miguel “All Hands” Castro and “The Playground” Daniel Parks, whose full court press helped to get 8 points off of turnovers, was followed-up by stellar down low play of the 5-Cities Twin Towers, Brian Clausen and Mark “Sasquatch” Grondin. “I just sat and watched, I didn’t want to break the spell,” rookie Dan Connolly noted. “Hank was trying to put me back in, but the team was groovin’. Why mess with a good thing?”
Besides the defense, there were some other changes for LEVEL tonight. Long time player and team president, Tom Adamski was absent from the lineup. No one would comment about his whereabouts, but his absence seemed suspicious, especially in light of the free agent signing of “Hollywood” Dan Williams. “Look, I’m not starting any rumors,” Dan said, “but I was available. I come all the way up from LA, the team wins… ‘Nough said.” When questioned after the game, Hank stated, “Tom’s not going anywhere. When you can pick up someone of Dan’s caliber at the league minimum for a couple of games, you do it. Tom will be back next week.”
“Hollywood” Dan wasn’t the only one to give LEVEL a spark off the bench. “Sure, we want to play more, but we just play our hearts out when we get the chance,” rookie sensation Steven Hasagawa said during the press conference. Both Steven and “Mini” Van Indra, again, saw limited minutes, but were instrumental with their quick on-ball defense and crisp passing. “It was important to get a win tonight, not just for us, but for our fans,” Van said. “Our fans show up game after game. It’s time they had something to get excited about.”
Long time fan and team groupie, Jessica was certainly excited tonight, “We WON! We WON!” she shouted for the first time this year, as the game came to a close.
LEVEL will need to work hard if they want give Jessica and the rest of the fans something to cheer about next week as they take on an undefeated SLO Poker, but after tonight’s win, anything seems possible.
