Since I stopped making toffee a couple of years back, there’s been a lot of requests to “just make one more.” In an effort to share the magic, here’s my no longer secret recipe. It was never a secret to begin with, as it’s based on making it “the old fashioned way.”
10 June 2014 - American Craft Beer Week 2014
I’ve had a number of people ask me about American Craft Beer Week in SLO that took place May 10th – 18th. First off, let me say, I looked forward to this week for the last year. I had such a great time last year, I had planned to hit every event. Read about some of my favorite beers of the week.

During our recent department holiday shindig at work, we had a contest for creating animated GIFs. Even a non-designer like me got to participate with the help of this handy app for my iPhone called LoopCam. It wasn’t too hard to create my master piece.
15 December 2012 - VftR: 12/15/12 Mountain of Gold
Montaña de Oro on a cold cloudy day. 27 miles of cadence focused cycling. So thankful for an early Christmas present of arm and leg warmers as it was COLD. Another humbling ride though as I attempted to catch up to a rider in front of me. When I finally did, I was shocked to […]
12 December 2012 - A Birthday Beer
What started off as a tough decision, was made when weighed against Heather’s birthday just days ago! How about a birthday beer for the birthday girl. Deschutes Brewery’s (@deschutesbeer) 24th birthday Reserve Black Butte. Pours deep and dark with nary a head. Smooth and balanced up front followed by molasses then chocolate and figs. A […]
02 December 2012 - A Weight Loss Journey
When I first started getting serious about my weight, I had hit a high of 273, and just like most people when they see a number on the scale that sickens them; I made a decision that it was time to change. Not that I hadn’t made those decisions many times before, but this time, I DID change.
